About

Jamie Banks (b. Worcester) is a sculptor exploring the way transformative states can be perceived, highlighting the relationship between his work through the method of display and the shared encounter with its viewer. This is done by exploiting the tropes of both sculpture and painting. The use of a semi-repetitive motif within Banks’ work serves as a method in which to question whether the work is that of a two-dimensional image displayed in three-dimensions or a painted three-dimensional object.

Taking inspiration from urban environments, construction and mathematics, Banks' explores the way in which the image he creates can evoke feelings of semi-recognisable subject matter through his choice of colour, material and scale.
